Courtney Barnett - "Pedestrian at Best"

Great song, so-so video. Reminds me of something the Smashing Pumpkins might do.

Jessy Lanza / Majid Jordan

I completely missed this Jessy Lanza record last year. Co-written with the Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan, it's a great addition to the Canadian electro-R&B boom we're currently experiencing:

Production duo Majid Jordan have also caught my attention... They co-produced that hot Drake track and now have an EP of their own. Also recommended.

Saint Pepsi - Fiona Coyne

Adam recommended this one to me just last week. Great tune. This one is more Chillwave than Vaporwave. Neither of those are real genres though right?

Cut Copy - Free Your Mind

Finally got around to listening to the newest Cut Copy album... I guess I really have been busy if I haven't had time to catch the latest from one of my fav bands.

First few listens, it's not immediately blowing me away like previous efforts. Definitely feels like a grower. I love the Madchester throwback sound though.

St. Vincent - Digital Witness

Really liking this album. Been too busy to keep up with a lot of new music, so I've mostly been keeping up with artists I already know and love.

Feeling a lot of David Byrne on this album but I might be reading in to that too much, what with their recent collaboration.

Prince - Breakfast Can Wait

New Prince tune that has nothing to do with Dave Chappelle.

Avicii - Wake Me Up

This one is going straight to #1 on the Billboard chart for sure. Catchy as hell, your kids will love it.

Arcade Fire - Here Comes the Night

Awesome tv special that aired after SNL two Saturdays ago. This album is going to be great. The band is in full Talking Heads mode at points during these songs

The Weeknd - "Wanderlust"

Despite all the middling reviews, I actually dig the new Weeknd record. Here's one of my favs:

Arcade Fire - Reflektor

This is awesome. How am I supposed to wait til October 29 for this to drop?

The James Murphy production works really well.

Beck - I Won't Be Long

Beck just keeps coming with great songs, and the production is fantastic too. That low end! And the mix is so punchy.

Divine Fits - Ain't That The Way

I would be totally fine if both Spoon and Wolf Parade retired and we just got music from the Fits from now on... this new A/B single is awesome.

QOTSA - Ricky Chism presents ...Like Clockwork

Another great video from Queens for the fucking great Like Clockwork. I already have the vinyl, but this sold me! Of course I'm a fan that would buy everything they make...

The Daily Swarm - Magna Carta Holy Hacked!

The Daily Swarm - Magna Carta Holy Hacked!

Does this mean that albums have jumped the shark, now that they can be hacked?

Queens of the Stone Age live stream

From last night, here's an entire 2-hour show where they play their new album plus more in LA...

The Daft Punk Press Problem

The Daft Punk Press Problem: Nostalgia for What?

Haven't listened to the album in its entirety yet, just samples from iTunes. This is an interesting take, as well as this other article that CDM links to: Daft Punk, “Authenticity”, Classism, and Kids Growing Up

More new QOTSA - "Keep Your Eyes Peeled"

Another awesome & gruesome animated clip from the forthcoming Queens of the Stone Age record... I don't dig this as much as the first couple songs I've heard, but I'll let it grow on me. Sounds a bit like second half of Era Vulgaris type stuff.

Don't figure this one getting much radio play. Actually listening to it again just now I'm really liking the sound and the production. This clip is 3 minutes but on the album this is the opening track and it comes in at 5 minutes.

It's been six years since their last record and I cannot fucking wait!

Holy Ghost - "Dumb Disco Ideas"

The heirs apparent to LCD Soundsystem come in with a new single... very DFA-records sounding. Cool video too, if you can watch YouTube for 8 minutes.
