LCD Soundsystem in LA!

Awesome.

All you have to do is dream

Nice use of the Everly Brothers' "All I Have To Do Is Dream" in the new Nightmare on Elm Street trailer. Sets up the theme and is perfectly haunting. A close second might have been The Chordettes' "Mr Sandman". Of all the songs they could have picked, I'm sure glad they didn't go with Metallica's "Enter Sandman", that would have definitely put me off. Couldn't quite make out the song at the end of the trailer though.

Jackie Earle Haley takes a turn as Freddie after playing Rorschach last year in the Watchmen... looks like he's reviving his career as a genre bad-boy. This one might actually be watchable. But I'm not holding my breath.

Insane...

The future is now: Un-mix your music!
It has been a dream of musicians, producers, engineers and remixers for years, but now — according to technology company Audionamix — the ability to separate a fully mixed track into its constituent parts has finally been realised.

CMW Announces Nominees for 2010 Broadcast Industry Awards

Some of these awards seem pretty redundant... All four major music labels nominated for the four spots in the 'Major Label of the Year' category?

Grateful Dead's business model

Strategic Improvisation – Management Secrets of the Grateful Dead [Future of Music]
The musicians who constituted the Dead were anything but naive about their business. They incorporated early on, and established a board of directors (with a rotating CEO position) consisting of the band, road crew, and other members of the Dead organization. They founded a profitable merchandising division and, peace and love notwithstanding, did not hesitate to sue those who violated their copyrights. But they weren’t greedy, and they adapted well. They famously permitted fans to tape their shows, ceding a major revenue source in potential record sales.

A very interesting read, check it out.

KRS-One love

Ahh yes, how come no one ever thought of putting KRS-One's classic track "Sound of the Police" in a buddy cop comedy? Seems pretty weird to use the song in this context, especially giving Mr. One's anti-establishment leanings...

He's a really interesting speaker. Check him out on Hannity.

Viral goodness

Hmmm... new viral video that's actually interesting for once over at Pitchfork.

My early guess is a Lady Gaga/NIN collaboration, as the videos are like "Dirrty" mixed with NIN's Ghosts... Kinda like Prince's Camille...

The writer of the article suggests the Knife, which could be a good call. They have an opera coming soon. This whole thing has a chance to be interesting!

Memorable Grammy Moments

If there is such a thing... zing! There's always something to gripe about, of course... like where's Jackson winning eight trophies, and what about the time that Peter Gabriel played "Steam" to open the show with a crazy body suit and a bunch of acrobats jumping all over the place? On the more surreal side, having Ornette Coleman giving Carrie Underwood an award is something I will never forget for sure.
